On Tuesday, Barrell Craft Spirits unveiled Barrell Bourbon Batch 038, a new limited-release blend featuring bourbons from Kentucky, Tennessee, Indiana and Maryland.
The release features a special red, white and blue label commemorating the United States’ 250th anniversary.
Batch 038 is bottled at 116.96 proof (58.48% ABV) and combines straight bourbons ranging from 8 to 15 years old. The blend comprises 12-year-old Kentucky bourbon, 12- and 15-year-old Tennessee bourbon, 9- and 10-year-old Indiana bourbon, and 8-year-old Maryland bourbon.
According to Barrell Craft Spirits, the derived mash bill is 79% corn, 17% rye and 4% malted barley.
The company described the whiskey as showcasing “layers of mature bourbon” with deep woodiness, earthy tones and lingering tannins. Adding water is said to bring out sweeter notes including confetti cake, lemon jelly and mango.
Founded in 2013, Barrell Craft Spirits built its reputation as an independent blender focused on cask-strength whiskeys and creative blending techniques. The Louisville-based company sources and blends barrels from multiple distilleries and aging environments to create limited releases sold domestically and internationally.
Batch 038 is now available nationwide at select retailers and through the company’s website with a suggested retail price of $84.99 per 750-milliliter bottle.
