Busch Light Lets Fans Vote on Next Beer Flavor After Viral ‘Bapple’ Success

Busch Light is turning its next flavor launch into a public vote after the runaway virality of Busch Light Apple — or “Bapple,” as fans have dubbed it online.

The beer brand announced Wednesday that it is launching its first-ever “Flavor Showdown,” asking fans to decide whether Lemon, Orange or Peach should become the next Busch Light flavor release.

The move comes after the return of Busch Light Apple earlier this year generated massive online engagement and sold nearly 1 million cases during its first week, according to the company.

“Our fans are some of the most dedicated and vocal beer drinkers in the world, especially when it comes to their favorite flavors,” Krystyn Stowe, head of marketing for Busch Family & Natural Family at Anheuser-Busch, said in a news release

Busch Light said one out of every three comments on its social media channels at one point referenced returning flavors, helping inspire the campaign.

Fans 21 and older can vote through July 7 at this link or by commenting on Busch Light social media posts.

The company is also taking the promotion on the road with in-person sampling events at CMA Fest in Nashville and NASCAR’s Chicagoland race weekend, where attendees will be able to taste all three candidates.

The campaign continues Busch Light’s growing push into flavored beer, an area that has become increasingly important for major beer brands looking to drive engagement with younger drinkers and social-media-friendly seasonal releases, particularly as overall beer consumption has declined.

The brand has not announced when the winning flavor would launch commercially.
