Maker’s Mark has continued its Wood Finishing Series with “The Heart Release.”

Kentucky whiskey brand Maker’s Mark recently announced the release of the latest bourbon in its Wood Finishing Series.

Dubbed “The Heart Release,” this bourbon “celebrates the team that distils our whisky, our people who sit at the heart of Maker’s, guiding and setting the tone for so much of what we do,” according to Maker’s Mark’s website.

Bottled at 56.3% ABV, The Heart Release is finished with 10 virgin oak staves.

“Always staying true to my grandparents, our founders’ vision to deliver a full-flavored, soft red winter wheat bourbon with a smooth finish, Maker’s Mark continues to shape the brand’s future through purposeful, flavor-driven innovation,” Rob Samuels, eighth-generation whiskey maker and Maker’s Mark managing director, said, per The Bourbon Review. “This Wood Finishing Series release celebrates the entire distillery team, who share our vision and who have contributed their perspective to craft the final expression.”

According to The Bourbon Review, Maker’s Mark “The Heart Release” will be available from U.S. retailers starting in July with a suggested retail price of $74.99.

“It was a very unique, special experience to have the distillery team play a significant role in crafting the taste vision of The Heart Release,” Maker’s Mark Senior Manager of Innovation and Blending Beth Buckner said, according to Maker’s Mark. “Distillery team members all have different, yet very important jobs in creating our whisky; each person described aromas and flavors they experience throughout their day, which helped us shape the flavors of this release.”

Maker’s Mark released BRT-01 and BRT-02, previous whiskeys in its Wood Finishing series, in 2022.

The name “BRT” comes from the way Maker’s Mark’s practice of hand-barrel rotation and temperature affect its whiskeys. The code for “The Heart Release” is BR-22A.
