On Wednesday Sports Tiger reported that the soccer team Copenhagen FC celebrated a victory by giving away over 30,000 beers to a stadium packed full of its fans.

After a close match against the Turkish team Galatasaray, the team scraped by and made the last 16 of the Champions League by winning 1-0.

During the 58th minute, Lukas Lerager scored a goal. Lerager was slapped with red card after receiving a yellow card in minute 90, and the victory was a close call.

“So I am happy and proud on behalf of the players, the fans and every corner of Copenhagen,” the club manager Jacob Neestrup said, according to Sports Tiger. “This also means a lot for Danish football.”

The Drinks Business reported that after the victory was achieved, a message was put on the Jumbotron of the Telia Parken Stadium announcing that every fan would be able to have a free beer.

This is the first time the team has advanced to the Champions League knock-out round in 13 years, making it a very special night.

According to the Drinks Business, the Copenhagen football team has had a relationship with the brewery Carlsberg since 1999. The Danish brewery, which was founded in 1847, is set to partner with the team until 2026.

The Drinks Business reported that the Copenhagen soccer team smashed a huge bottle of Carlsberg in the stadium after a stand was named after the brewery.

This would not be the first time a soccer team has plied its fans with booze after a victory.

In April, Ryan Reynolds, the co-owner of the Welsh soccer club Wrexham, dropped £40,000 ($50,301) on whisky for fans of the club after the team defeated Boreham Wood 3-1.

As for the Danish team’s victory, The Drinks Business reports that if every single fan in the stadium took the team up on its offer for free beer, the total amount of beers given away would amount to 34,726 — a number very much worth toasting to.
