Most Ambitious Bourbon Ever? This Blend Includes Whiskey From All 50 States

United States of Bourbon

Independent whiskey bottler Lost Lantern on Monday unveiled the first bourbon blended with components from all 50 states, bringing together distillate from producers across the country in one of the most ambitious blending projects in American whiskey history.

The new “United States of Bourbon” collection debuts with three expressions: a 100-proof release, a cask-strength edition and a limited 1776 Edition created to commemorate America’s 250th anniversary.

The project arrives as bourbon production continues to expand far beyond its traditional strongholds in Kentucky and Tennessee. Today, bourbon is produced everywhere from Hawaii and Alaska to Vermont and Texas, and Lost Lantern’s latest release aims to showcase that nationwide evolution in a single bottle.

“The United States of Bourbon has truly been years in the making and has been part of the vision for Lost Lantern since before we launched the company,” said Adam Polonski, co-founder and head of whiskey sourcing at Lost Lantern. “From the earliest stages of dreaming up Lost Lantern, we envisioned crafting a fifty-state blend to showcase the diversity and breadth of bourbon.”

According to the company, the blend was more than five years in development. Co-founders Polonski and Nora Ganley-Roper traveled extensively across the United States, visiting distilleries and evaluating barrels to identify a single bourbon representative from each state. Every component whiskey in the final blend comes from a distillery personally visited and vetted by Lost Lantern’s founders.

The flagship United States of Bourbon 100 Proof expression is bottled at 50% ABV and carries a suggested retail price of $79.99. The cask-strength version, bottled at 122.9 proof, will retail for $99.99. Both expressions feature the same 50-state blend, with whiskey components ranging from two to 10 years old.

The most limited release is the United States of Bourbon 1776 Edition, a one-time-only blend featuring bourbon from the original 13 states that formed the United States. Bottled at 121.4 proof, the expression is limited to 1,776 hand-numbered bottles and priced at $199.99.

“This is certainly the most ambitious whiskey Lost Lantern has ever made,” said Ganley-Roper, the company’s co-founder and head blender. “I blended this to give a bird’s-eye view of bourbon from across the country. This whiskey provides a snapshot of the complexity and current landscape of bourbon.”

Lost Lantern notes that the blend includes bourbons produced in a wide range of climates and production styles, from coastal distilleries influenced by sea air to grain-to-glass operations and producers with deep regional moonshining traditions. The company also highlighted the rapid growth of craft distilling, noting that some participating distilleries are younger than the concept for the project.

In keeping with Lost Lantern’s transparency-focused approach, every participating distillery is listed on the label. Contributors include established names such as New Riff Distilling in Kentucky, Balcones Distilling in Texas, High West Distillery in Utah, Woodinville Whiskey Co. in Washington and Starlight Distillery in Indiana, alongside dozens of smaller craft producers from across the country.

The release follows a strong year for the Vermont-based independent bottler, which was named Independent Bottler of the Year at the 2026 Icons of Whisky America Awards.

United States of Bourbon is available through Lost Lantern’s website; Seelbach’s; the company’s tasting room in Vergennes, Vermont; and select retailers in California, Illinois, Massachusetts, New Hampshire, New York, Rhode Island, Vermont and Virginia.
