Coors Whiskey Co. is stepping deeper into the premium whiskey space with the release of a limited-edition 8-year-old blended American malt whiskey that it says leans heavily on nearly 150 years of malting expertise.

The new expression, unveiled Monday, highlights the company’s long-standing role in grain production and malting, a foundation that predates its rise as one of America’s most recognizable brewing brands.

Built using Colorado-grown malt, the whiskey is positioned as a grain-first release in a category often defined by barrel aging. Bottled at 110.5 proof, it features a blend of 8-year-old American malt whiskeys designed to showcase both depth and complexity.

“Most whiskey stories begin in the barrel. Ours begins with the grain,” Susie McInerney, senior marketing manager at Coors Spirits Co., said in a news release. “Malt has been part of the Coors story since the earliest days of the company rooted in long-standing malting tradition. This release represents a natural evolution for Coors Whiskey Co. and is proof that what goes into our whiskey — down to the grain — makes all the difference, and creates something truly differentiated in the category.”.”

The company says its extensive malting operation — one of the largest in North America — has long influenced flavor development across both beer and spirits. With this release, Coors is placing that expertise directly into a premium whiskey format aimed at enthusiasts seeking malt-forward expressions.

According to the brand, the whiskey opens with aromas of plum, cinnamon raisin bread and baked apple, followed by a palate of pear, salted melon, toffee and stone fruit. The finish brings charred oak, vanilla and warming spice.

Ahead of launch, the whiskey earned a 98-point score and Gold Outstanding recognition from the 2026 International Wine & Spirits Awards, along with Double Platinum honors at the ASCOT Awards for both taste and packaging design. Only 1,200 individually numbered bottles will be released.

The limited-edition whiskey will retail for $79.99 and will be available only in Colorado and Illinois ahead of Father’s Day.
