High Noon is expanding its roster of vodka sodas with a splash of grape, lime and ginger.

On Thursday, the best-selling drinks maker toasted golf season with the debut of High Noon Transfusion, a reimagining of the fan-favorite country club cocktail. Though the brand has released 15 flavors and counting since its debut in 2019, the Transfusion is described as its first-ever limited drop. Taking inspiration from “streetwear-style urgency,” the product is slated to launch in limited quantities on May 1 at a suggested retail price of $14.99 per six-pack.

“As the leading premium hard seltzer, High Noon has always led the category by showing up for the peak occasions of our fans’ lives,” Britt West, CCO at High Noon owner Gallo, said in a news release.

“With our first-ever flavor drop, we’re driving real excitement and urgency at retail in an increasingly crowded RTD space. Transfusion underscores our focus on winning in high-affinity occasions like the golf course, where consumers are seeking genuine refreshment—and where our real vodka and real juice proposition delivers in a way others can’t.”

The Transfusion is widely rumored to have been invented (or at least popularized) by President Dwight D. Eisenhower, who favored the cocktail when he was swinging shots at the Augusta National Golf Club in Georgia. These days, the Augusta National Golf Club — which hosts the annual Masters Golf Tournament, one of the “Big Four” — serves the Transfusion as its signature drink.

The cocktail is typically made with two ounces of vodka, one ounce of Concord grape juice, half an ounce of lime and a heavy pour of ginger ale, plus a few grapes and a lime wedge for garnish.

High Noon’s version of the recipe will likely lean into the vodka soda side of the equation — to what extent, we’re still not sure. Like all High Noon products, the Transfusion is made with real vodka and fruit juice, available in 355-milliliter formats and canned at 4.5% ABV.
