A viral limited-edition bourbon tied to an internet meme sold out within a day at a Costco location, WNCN reported.
The bottle, labeled “I got that dog in me,” appeared without advance notice at a Washington, D.C.-area store and quickly drew attention from shoppers and online collectors. The release was not available online and was limited to one bottle per customer.
The bourbon is part of Rare Character’s single barrel series and was bottled at 126.10 proof. According to the label, it is an 11-year, 4-month-old Kentucky straight bourbon whiskey. The design features Costco’s well-known $1.50 hot dog and drink combo, which helped drive interest among buyers.
WNCN reported that the bottle was priced at $85.99 and sold out shortly after hitting shelves. Social media posts, including on Reddit, showed customers sharing purchases and searching for additional bottles.
“Willing to pay $500 for a bottle if someone has one available,” one user wrote, according to WNCN.
While official tasting notes were not provided, some buyers shared impressions online. One user described the whiskey as having notes of oak, marshmallow and spice, with a long finish.
“I understand the juice is 11 year [James B. Beam]… but let’s be honest, we were all buying it for the label,” one Redditor wrote.
Costco is known for releasing limited or store-specific items without prior announcement. It is unclear whether the bourbon will return to shelves or expand to other locations.
