On Nov. 21, Luxurious Magazine reported that Berry Bros. and Rudd, a fine wine and spirits business, chose to celebrate its 325th anniversary with a rare offering from the Islay distillery, Laphroaig.

325 years is nothing to sneeze at, especially in the world of wine and spirits merchants. Businesses come and go — some fade away over time and others suffer epic and meteoric demises. But Berry Bros, a wine and spirits shop founded in 1698, can proudly boast that the business has been around for over three centuries.

To celebrate the anniversary, Berry Bros. and Rudd collaborated with Laphroaig, and the bottle was handpicked by its chair, Lizzy Rudd. Rudd selected a scotch from Laphroaig that had matured since 1999.

“We started bottling casks under our label in the early 19th century. To celebrate our 325th anniversary, we wanted to offer something truly exceptional,” Rudd explained, according to Luxurious Magazine. “This exclusive bottling from Laphroaig is a testament to our long-standing commitment to curating the finest spirits.”

Just 232 bottles are available of the whisky, and it hosts a suggested retail price of £800 ($1,015).

Laphroaig is no stranger to extended age statement scotches, and the producer has experimented with 36-year-old scotches of late. In September, the brand released a 36-year-old scotch that celebrated peat, a critical element of the distillery’s production process.
