Smirnoff Ice is extending America’s 250th anniversary celebration with an unusual pairing: flavored malt beverages and hot dogs.
The brand announced Tuesday that it will attempt to set two Guinness World Records on Aug. 1 in Put-in-Bay, Ohio, one of the Midwest’s most popular summer party destinations.
The event will feature attempts to break the records for the Largest Display of Hot Dogs and the Largest Hot Dog Party, with attendees 21 and older invited to participate.
The campaign, dubbed “Be A Part-y of History,” launched with a patriotic social media video featuring a live bald eagle carrying a hot dog in one talon and a Smirnoff Ice Red, White & Berry in the other before revealing the upcoming record attempts.
Fans who attend the event will be able to sample Smirnoff Ice beverages, enjoy complimentary hot dogs and receive branded merchandise while taking part in the Guinness World Records attempts.
The promotion centers on Smirnoff Ice Red, White & Berry, the brand’s seasonal flavor inspired by the colors of the American flag.
Put-in-Bay, located on South Bass Island in Lake Erie, has long been known as one of Ohio’s premier summer vacation and nightlife destinations, making it a fitting backdrop for the brand’s latest experiential marketing campaign.
Consumers interested in participating can register through Smirnoff Ice’s website. The event is open only to adults 21 and older.
