Kavalan, the famous Taiwanese distillery, will begin importing its Triple Sherry Cask single malt whisky to the U.S. in April, the brand told Whiskey Raiders this week.

“We are very excited to finally bring in Kavalan’s Triple Sherry Cask to the U.S.,” Dan Leese, the president of Kavalan’s parent company, Hotaling & Co., said in a news release. “Kavalan continues to showcase their exploration of cask finishes and this rare combination of three sherry casks proves why they are a pioneer in the World Whisky category.”

Bottled at 86 proof and priced at $99.99, Kavalan Triple Sherry Cask is distilled in Taiwan and aged in Oloroso, Pedro Ximénez and Moscatel casks.

“During this process, the flavors harmonize through a myriad combination of the three sherry cask whiskies, creating up to nine distinct sherry dimensions,” Kavalan Senior Blender Zerose Yang said. “With the dried fruits of the Oloroso cask as its main character, Triple Sherry is embellished with the sweetness of PX and Moscatel casks.”

Kavalan Triple Cask earned a Double Gold Medal at the 2023 San Francisco World Spirits Competition.

“This is the first time we’ve combined our whisky in three different sherry casks,” Kavalan CEO Mr. YT Lee said. “It’s all about multiplying and enriching the sherry flavors to make a distinct whisky that has dried fruits, rich caramel, sweet maltose and tropical fruits as its profile.”

The whisky comes in updated packaging, which Kavalan describes as “a fluid painting intertwined with white, gold and red colors.” The tin capsule displays a double silver line intended to represent the Central Mountain and Snow Mountain ranges that surround the Kavalan Distillery.
