On Tuesday, Johnnie Walker announced a new limited-edition Blue Label Scotch designed around India’s festive season and the flavors of Indian cuisine.

The Johnnie Walker Blue Label Indian Festive Blend is the second release in the brand’s Indian festive series and marks the second year of its collaboration with Indian couturier Rahul Mishra.

Created by Johnnie Walker Master Blender Dr. Emma Walker, the blend is crafted from a variety of whiskies made by distilleries under the Diageo portfolio. Johnnie Walker says only one in every 10,000 casks in its reserves has the depth of flavor required for Blue Label.

Walker says she developed the whisky with Indian cuisine in mind, drawing inspiration from the balance of spice, sweetness and aromatic flavors found across the country’s culinary traditions.

The resulting Scotch is described as having notes of cardamom, saffron, rosewater and citrus, along with honeyed sweetness, chocolate-covered fruit, warm spices and a light smoky character.

“I was captivated by the artistry of Indian cuisine, the way chefs balance bold spice with harmony, elegance and depth,” Walker said in a news release. “That sense of balance became my inspiration for this special Blue Label blend.”

Walker said the blend combines aromatic notes of cardamom, clove and cinnamon with sweetness and the smoky character associated with Johnnie Walker Blue Label.

The bottle and packaging were designed by Mishra, continuing a collaboration that began with last year’s inaugural Indian Festive Blend. The design partnership is part of a broader campaign that will include festive experiences and activations in the coming months.

“For this year’s Indian Festive Blend, we wanted to create something that felt truly special for the moments that bring people together during the festive season,” Jamie Young, vice president of Scotch at Diageo, said.

Mishra said the collaboration reflects the role of craftsmanship, generosity and togetherness in India’s festive season.

Johnnie Walker did not provide a suggested retail price or broader availability details for the new release in the announcement.
