Samuel Adams Lager Returns to UK After Scottish World Cup Beer Craze in Boston

Samuel Adams Boston Lager is returning to the UK after being discontinued, with a limited-time release fueled by renewed demand following Scotland’s memorable 2026 FIFA World Cup campaign.

According to The Sun, online beer retailer Beerhunter has secured a limited supply of the iconic American craft lager after receiving months of requests from customers hoping to get their hands on the beer again. The lager is available while supplies last through the retailer’s website.

The renewed interest traces back to June, when tens of thousands of Scotland supporters descended on Boston for the nation’s first World Cup appearance since 1998. The Tartan Army drank so much Samuel Adams Boston Lager during the tournament that the Samuel Adams Boston Taproom was forced to arrange an emergency beer delivery after sales reached roughly four times a typical four-day holiday weekend.

The surge wasn’t limited to the brewery. bars across Boston received roughly 100,000 additional pints of beer during the week as Scottish fans packed pubs throughout the city, while several establishments temporarily ran out of beer altogether. The World Cup celebrations also prompted brands including Heineken, White Claw and Miller Lite to launch promotional activations aimed at helping keep Scottish supporters supplied with drinks.

“We saw incredible interest after the Tartan Army made headlines in Boston, and we’ve had customers asking us ever since when it would be available in the UK again,” Beerhunter director Ryan Smith told The Sun. “We’re delighted to bring it back to beer lovers across Scotland and the rest of the UK. It’s an iconic American lager with a fantastic brewing heritage, and we think Scottish fans will enjoy raising another glass to some unforgettable memories.”

Beerhunter is currently selling 12-packs of 473-milliliter cans for £54.95 ($73), with discounted pricing available to members of its loyalty program.

Samuel Adams Boston Lager first launched in 1984 and became one of America’s best-known craft beers. In 2012, The Boston Beer Company partnered with Kent-based Shepherd Neame Brewery to produce the beer in the UK, though both the imported and locally brewed versions were later discontinued.

The latest release is available only while supplies last.
