Coors Light Launches Super-Sized ‘Tallerboy’ That Fits 3 Beers

Coors Light is taking a bigger-is-better approach with its newly unveiled Tallerboy — an obtusely tall drinking vessel that spells Coors with 14 “O”s from top to bottom.

On Tuesday, the beer juggernaut toasted the FIFA World Cup with a limited-edition “taller-than-a-tallboy” canister that can purportedly fit the contents of three beers. Based on the wording of the news release, it seems that the can doesn’t actually come with beer inside, but is rather a refillable vessel shaped in the likeness of a good ol’ fashioned tallboy.

According to Food & Wine, the Tallerboy’s measures 18 inches tall. The novelty item is slated to go on sale exclusively through the Coors Light website for $30, dropping on June 11 and June 18 while supplies last.

“The Tallerboy is everything ‘The Cooors Call’ stands for, brought to life in physical form,” Matt  Carpenter, vice president of marketing at Coors Light, remarked in a news release. “Extra long celebrations deserve  something that allows you to hold onto those game moments a little longer, and Tallerboy does  exactly that — three cans, one canister and a whole lot of extra Os.”

It isn’t the first (nor is it likely to be the last) time that Coors has dipped its toes into an outlandish stunt. The Colorado-based brewer has released many a limited-edition novelty item over the years, most of which celebrate the brand’s insistence that its beer is best enjoyed ice-cold. Our personal favorites include its lineup of beer-flavored push pops, color-changing nail polish that shifts from grey to blue if the beer in hand drops below 42 degrees Fahrenheit and a “Chill” soccer jersey with a built-in cooling system.
