Sportskeeda reported on Sunday that NASCAR champion Kyle Larson shared that a recent diet of pasta, wine and tequila may be responsible for a new record heart rate that he achieved during his latest racing win. The racing star revealed on X, the social media platform formerly known as Twitter, that his heart rate had reached 198 beats per minute — giving a new meaning to the phrase, “pulse-pounding victory.”

Nicknamed “Yung Money,” Larson is no stranger to victories. In the World of Outlaw Series Race, Larson narrowly defeated James McFadden by a margin of 0.053 seconds.

Larson shared images of his heart rate during his earlier victory during July’s Brickyard 400, and his average heart rate during racing noticeably increased since then. During the first race, Larson’s average heart rate was 121 beats per minute and maxed out at 180 beats per minute.

During the World of Outlaw Series Race, Larson’s pulse clocked in at an average of 150 beats per minute and reached a new record of 198 beats per minute. Larson shared his thoughts in the following caption:

“As bad as we’ve been this year my thoughts before the feature were, ‘don’t get lapped.’ Never give up kids! New max HR for me as well. I blame that on all the pasta, wine and tequila in Italy.”

Larson started racing in his teenage years, and he was nicknamed “Yung Money” due to his strong abilities, according to Sportskeeda. He won 4-Crown Nationals at Eldora Speedway in 2011: he was just 19 years old.

In 2019, 2021 and 2023, Larson went on to win the NASCAR All-Star Races. He additionally achieved crown-jewel wins during the 2021 Coca-Cola 600, 2021 Cup Series Championship, 2021 Bristol Night Race and the 2021 Cup Series Regular Series Champion. Larson is the number 1 ranked driver for 2024, according to NASCAR.
