As golf season comes to full force, athletes begin winding down on the green with the usual assortment of signature cocktails. In between putts, expect to find the Azalea, Transfusion, tried-and-true Arnold Palmer and its alcoholic counterpart, the John Daly. How about a side of scotch for good measure?

Commemorating the 124th U.S. Open Championship, Dewar’s Blended Scotch has unveiled the fourth release in its ongoing “The Champion’s Edition” series. The limited-edition 19-year statement is finished in first-fill rye whisky casks before being bottled at 43% ABV.

The release pays homage to an unexpected marriage of influences from across the pond. The Pinehurst Resort & Country Club — the site of the annual U.S. Open — was designed in 1895 by Donald Ross, a renowned Scottish golfer responsible for designing dozens of courses across the U.S.

According to the brand, its latest release is “as rich and refined as the sport of golf itself.” Dewar’s 19 Year Old is said to balance notes of pear and heather honey with a “warming palate” full of cinnamon and cocoa powder. Those looking to purchase the bottling can find it online at $80.

“Throughout the centuries, golf has woven a tapestry of camaraderie, competition, and celebration—a tradition cherished by enthusiasts worldwide,” Dewar’s Master Blender Stephanie Macleod said. “With the release of Dewar’s 19 Year Old – The Champion’s Edition for the 124th U.S. Open, we honor this timeless connection between the sport and the shared moments that follow. Just as golfers gather at the 19th hole to recount their tales of the course, this special-edition whisky becomes an integral part of this ritual—a companion to the stories shared, the bonds strengthened, and the memories made.”

Macleod, who oversaw the creation of Dewar’s 19 Year Old, made history in 2006 as the brand’s first female master distiller. She’s since been awarded Master Blender of the Year by the International Whisky Competition for five consecutive years between 2018 and 2023.
