On Wednesday, Maker’s Mark unveiled a partnership with Los Angeles Sparks guard Kelsey Plum to launch a limited-edition Private Selection bourbon, marking the brand’s latest crossover into sports and culture ahead of the 2026 WNBA season.

The release, called “Yam Jam by Kelsey Plum,” will be available beginning May 7 at select retailers in Los Angeles, with part of the initiative supporting the Los Angeles Fire Department Foundation.

To select the bourbon, Plum visited Star Hill Farm, home of the Maker’s Mark distillery, where she participated in the brand’s Private Selection program, which allows collaborators to customize finishing staves to create a one-off expression of Maker’s Mark bourbon.

The finished product is bottled at 111.3 proof (55.65% ABV). It was finished using 11 staves, which break down as follows:

  • Two Baked American Pure 2
  • Three Seared French Cuvée
  • One Maker’s Mark 46®
  • Two Roasted French Mendiant
  • Three Toasted French Spice

Maker’s Mark donated the first barrel — yielding about 275 bottles — to the Los Angeles Fire Department Foundation. Those bottles will be used for charitable auctions and events.

“Working with Maker’s Mark to create my own bourbon gave me a chance to take the same approach I bring to the court—thoughtful, precise, and intentional—and craft an expression that truly reflects who I am,” Plum said in a news release. “I’ve always admired Maker’s Mark for their dedication to taking the time to achieve their exact vision. With Yam Jam, I wanted something bold and distinctive, with warmth and balance, meant to be enjoyed with family and friends, just as their founders intended with Maker’s Mark.”

Maker’s Mark says Plum created a signature cocktail to go along with the bourbon. Named “KP’s Kicking Mule,” the cocktail is made with Maker’s Mark, blood orange, blackberry and ginger.

Plum will be hosting a bottle signing in Long Beach, California. Click here to RSVP and learn more about the release.

Maker’s Mark’s Presence In Women’s Sports

The collaboration builds on Maker’s Mark’s broader push into women’s basketball. Earlier this year, the brand announced a multi-year partnership with Unrivaled, a 3-on-3 league founded by Napheesa Collier and Breanna Stewart, marking its first sports league sponsorship.

The Plum release also ties into Maker’s Mark’s ongoing “Perfectly Unreasonable” campaign, which focuses on individuals pursuing excellence through unconventional paths.
