In Jaunpur, India, two siblings lost their lives following a violent altercation allegedly arising from a dispute over alcohol. According to a report published by News 18 on Wednesday, the incident unfolded during the arrival of a wedding procession in the Khetasarai area around 11 p.m. on Tuesday.

The confrontation ensued when certain attendees approached a kiosk managed by Ajay Prajapati, 23, and his 20-year-old brother, Ankit, requesting alcoholic beverages. A verbal dispute between the siblings and the guests escalated into a fatal stabbing incident, later resulting in the deaths of both brothers as they were undergoing treatment at Sadar Hospital, per News 18. The bodies have since been dispatched for post-mortem examination.

Prompt action by law enforcement led to the arrest of all six individuals involved in the altercation within a five-hour timeframe. Notably, three of the arrested suspects — Mukesh Bind, Nishu Bind and Satish Bind — sustained gunshot injuries to their legs during the police operation and are currently hospitalized, according to Shahganj Circle Officer Shubham Todi.

In October, a similar incident involving a wedding, alcohol and fatal outcomes took place. Following a wedding party in Bandung, Indonesia, 12 individuals were reported dead after unknowingly consuming bootleg liquor served at the gathering.
