Four Roses Distillery announced on Monday that it will release its 2025 Limited Edition Small Batch Bourbon on Sept. 3, marking the 18th entry in the annual series. The release features a blend of three bourbon recipes drawn from four different batches, aged between 13 and 19 years. Here’s how the blend breaks down:

  • 38% 13-year-old OBSV
  • 35% 13-year-old OESV
  • 17% 13-year-old OBSK
  • 10% 19-year-old OESV

The non-chill filtered bourbon is bottled at a cask-strength 109 proof.

“Year after year, we look to create a unique expression that highlights the best of what our ten recipes can offer,” Four Roses Master Distiller Brent Elliott said in a news release. “When blending this year’s release, I was drawn to the 13-year-old V batches that showcase pronounced delicate fruit and sweet barrel tones. Although these barrels can really shine on their own, the OBSK brought in a complexity that I think people will really enjoy. The addition of the 19-year-old OBSV also adds another layer of depth and aged character that rounds out the blend beautifully.”

The distillery will release 16,854 bottles at a suggested retail price of $249. The bourbon will be available at select retailers nationwide. Four Roses will also hold a public bottle drawing, with entries accepted Tuesday through Sunday. Winners, chosen at random, will be notified Aug. 29 and may purchase bottles at the Four Roses Distillery Visitor Center in Lawrenceburg, Kentucky.

Visitors to the distillery can also try the bourbon at Bar 1888 while supplies last.

Founded in 1888, Four Roses produces 10 bourbon recipes using two mashbills and five proprietary yeast strains. However, Elliott told us that the brand started producing two new bourbon mashbills — one higher-rye and the other lower-rye — last year, which means we’re in for another 10 recipes. However, we likely won’t see those new recipes bottled for about six or seven years as they will need time to mature.

Taste Test: Four Roses Limited Edition Small Batch Bourbon Is One of 2025’s Best Whiskeys

We had the opportunity to sneak an early taste of Four Roses Limited Edition Small Batch Bourbon 2025 and came away highly impressed. This batch is deep and sweet yet simultaneously fruity and light on its feet, with just enough rye spice to keep things interesting. Oh, and it is truly perfectly oaky.
