27-Year Buffalo Trace Bourbon and 55-Year Scotch Headline New Rare Whiskey Collection

The Last Drop Whiskey 2025 Collection

On Tuesday, The Last Drop Distillers unveiled its 2025 Collection, featuring three limited-edition whiskeys from the U.S., Scotland and Japan. The latest Last Drop whiskey collection features a 27-year-old Kentucky straight bourbon from Buffalo Trace Distillery, a 55-year-old single malt scotch from Tomintoul Distillery and a 22-year-old Japanese blended malt whisky. Each release highlights unique maturation techniques from its region.

The 2025 Collection will be available in limited quantities starting in April through select distributors, high-end retailers, bars and restaurants. Each bottle is wax-sealed, individually numbered and presented in an oak-framed case, accompanied by a 50-milliliter miniature, a tasting book and an engraved stopper.

“The 2025 Curated Collection represents one of The Last Drop’s most anticipated and exceptional releases to date,” Jess Scheerhorn, vice president – emerging portfolio, Sazerac, said in a news release. “Featuring a remarkable 27-Year-Old Kentucky Straight Bourbon, alongside two stunning whiskies from Scotland and Japan, this collection showcases the best of global whisky craftsmanship. Each spirit is a testament to our pursuit of the truly extraordinary, and we are thrilled to share these rare finds with epicureans of fine spirits around the world.”

27-Year-Old Buffalo Trace Bourbon (Release No. 37)

One of Buffalo Trace Distillery’s oldest bourbons to date, this release blends whiskey from three barrels distilled in 1995, 1996, and 1997. Master Blender Drew Mayville and Master Distiller Harlen Wheatley selected and blended the barrels, aging them in Warehouse P. The bourbon is bottled uncut and unfiltered at 121.8 proof, with only 508 bottles available worldwide at a suggested price of $10,500 per 700-milliliter bottle.

Color: Bright bronze-gold

Nose: Seasoned oak, cherry, medjool date, baking spices, dark fruit, and rye

Taste: Oak tannins, caramel, dark chocolate-dipped cherries, tobacco, and leather

Finish: Long and warming, with lingering dried fruit and oak spice

55-Year-Old Tomintoul Single Malt Scotch (Release No. 38)

This Scotch whisky follows the 2024 release of The Last Drop’s oldest single malt to date — also a 55-year-old from Tomintoul. Distilled in April 1969, it matured in ex-sherry butts and refill sherry hogsheads before spending an additional two years in an ex-Matusalem Sherry butt. Bottled at 86.2 proof (43.1% ABV), only 430 bottles will be available worldwide for a suggested retail price of $6,950 per 750-milliliter bottle.

Color: Deep amber with a pink hue

Nose: Red fruits, ripe peaches, toasted almonds, and warm toffee

Taste: Juicy stone fruits, baking spices, liquorice, and caramel

Finish: Smooth and complex, with a balance of sweetness and spice

22-Year-Old Japanese Blended Malt Whisky (Release No. 39)

This Japanese whisky is composed of rare malt distilled at Hanyu Distillery before its closure in 2000. A blend of two casks aged in Mizunara oak, it is bottled at 118.2 proof (59.1% ABV), with 319 bottles available at a suggested price of $5,500 per 750-milliliter bottle.

Color: Rich deep gold

Nose: Sandalwood, nutmeg, all-spice, vanilla, and marzipan

Taste: Tropical fruits, red berries, spiced incense, and wood

Finish: Cinnamon pastry and warming spice that fades gradually
