  • Not a big departure from the previous blends, but just different enough. And very hard to put down.

  • Nose:

Sweet oak is the theme of the nose — plentiful oak is met with orange peel, cinnamon, brown sugar, meringue, oats and cornbread.

  • Taste:

The palate is distinctive and oaky. Lots of soft oak and tannin are joined by banana cream pie, raisin bread, cherry pits and plum skin, plus vanilla cake, apricot, caramel apple, sweet cream, cinnamon and pepper.

  • Finish:

Medium to long finish, closing with tannin, ash, toasted oak, cherry, hazelnut, tobacco, custard, kiwi, apple, praline and maple syrup.

  • Overall:

The 13th entry in Bardstown Bourbon Co.'s Discovery Series is a satisfying, complex bourbon. It's viscous, sweet, delicate, oaky and well balanced. Tasty stuff.

  • Score:

    89
