Blueberry Bourbon Lemonade (Batched Cocktail)

About This Cocktail

This batch-friendly Blueberry Bourbon Lemonade is built for cookouts, porch drinking and long weekends. This recipe yields about eight servings and is sure to be a crowd pleaser all summer long.

Ingredients

  • 2 cup Bourbon
  • 1 cup Fresh Lemon Juice
  • 1 cup Blueberry Simple Syrup
  • 2 cup Cold Water

Instructions

  1. Add the bourbon, fresh lemon juice, blueberry simple syrup and cold water to a large pitcher.
  2. Stir well to combine.
  3. Refrigerate until chilled, at least 1 hour.
  4. Before serving, stir again and taste. Add a little more lemon juice if you want it brighter, or more blueberry syrup if you want it sweeter.
  5. Serve in rocks glasses filled with ice.
  6. Garnish with lemon wheels and fresh blueberries or a sprig of mint.

Blueberry Simple Syrup

Makes about 1 ½ cups

  • 1 cup fresh or frozen blueberries
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 cup water
  • 1 teaspoon fresh lemon juice, optional

Blueberry Simple Syrup Instructions

  1. Add the blueberries, sugar and water to a small saucepan.
  2. Bring to a gentle simmer over medium heat, stirring occasionally until the sugar dissolves.
  3. Let the mixture simmer for 8 to 10 minutes, gently pressing the blueberries with the back of a spoon as they soften.
  4. Remove from heat and stir in the lemon juice, if using.
  5. Let the syrup cool for 10 to 15 minutes.
  6. Strain through a fine-mesh sieve into a clean jar or measuring cup. Do not press too hard if you want a clearer syrup.
  7. Let cool completely before using.
