WKRC Local 12 reported on Monday that Maker’s Mark is bringing back its Cellar Aged bourbon, and this year’s release is the brand’s oldest whiskey to date. Maker’s Mark Cellar Aged 2024 is a composition of 15% Maker’s Mark 12-year-old and 85% Maker’s Mark 13-year-old whiskey. It clocks in at 119.3 proof, according to the brand.

“We surprised the world last year with the debut of Maker’s Mark Cellar Aged last year, a bold step in our family’s legacy because, for more than 65 years, aging our whisky for a decade-plus wasn’t something we did,” said 8th Generation Whisky Maker and Managing Director at Maker’s Mark Rob Samuels according to the outlet. “Staying true to our founders’ flavor vision and our relentless pursuit of excellence, we’re thrilled to introduce our most mature bourbon yet.”

Maker’s Mark Cellar Aged 2024 will be available on September 16 and has a suggested retail price of $175, though it may cost a bit more on the secondary market due to demand.

Last August, Maker’s Mark debuted Maker’s Mark Cellar Aged for the first time, and whiskey enthusiasts went nuts. Whiskey fans have been asking for years for some extended-age Maker’s Mark, and Cellar Aged answered prayers as a blend of 11- and 12-year bourbons bottled at 115.7 proof.

At 12 to 13 years, Cellar Aged is even older this time around, and fans who can manage to get their hands on a bottle are sure to be excited.

Maker’s Mark’s calling card is aging its whiskeys “to taste — not time,” and the brand typically releases its bourbons after 6 years. The bourbon brand prizes softness, and doesn’t want overly tannic and oaky juice. Yet, Maker’s Mark finally answered the call last year, and the bottle was a smashing success, earning a Raided Score® of 93.

According to The Lane Report, Maker’s Mark says that Cellar Aged 2024 hosts aromas of zesty citrus, toasted almonds and sugar; a palate with a “delicate interplay of buttery shortbread, rich coconut and bright spices”; and a finish that lingers with dark fruit and oaky undertones.
