Four Roses Latest Release Finally Available On More Store Shelves Soon

Fans of Four Roses Small Batch Select – the older (6ish year blend), bolder cousin to Four Roses Small Batch – can find solace in the distillery’s most recent release as they announce expanded availability of the small batch bourbon. Four Roses announced earlier that in addition to the small handful of states where SBS (Small Batch Select) are currently retailed, 13 more states will receive the moderately priced, high proof whiskey – bringing the distillery’s distribution total to 30 states for this particular bottling.

Produced using 6 of the distillery’s 10 recipes, Four Roses Small Batch Select is bottled at 52% ABV and priced around the rough $59 mark. The Kentucky Straight Bourbon Whiskey features plenty of oak and lots of clove, baking spice, cracked pepper, honey and toffee. We are so excited to announce that Small Batch Select – the first permanent addition to our portfolio of premium Bourbons since 2006 – will become available to more Bourbon lovers this spring.

Non-chill filtered and 104 proof, Small Batch Select was first introduced in 2019 to just five states. This spring, the special Bourbon becomes available in Alabama, Arizona, Connecticut, Delaware, Louisiana, Maryland, Minnesota, Nevada, Oregon, Pennsylvania, South Carolina, Virginia and Washington, D.C. This expansion brings the total to 30 states where Small Batch Select is available.

As you know, we take a different approach to distilling our Bourbons, by combining two mashbills with five proprietary yeast strains to produce 10 distinct Bourbon recipes. Using recipes from both mashbills and three yeast strains – V, K and F – Master Distiller Brent Elliott combined six Bourbon recipes, aged a minimum of 6 years to create Small Batch Select.

This special bottling features some of our Bourbon recipes that aren’t as forward facing in our other bottles, and it has that close to straight-from-the-barrel experience you get with it being non-chill filtered. Outside of our regular Four Roses Bourbon, OBSF and OESF – two Bourbon recipes hand-selected for Small Batch Select – can only be found in our Private Selection Single Barrel Bourbons, so Small Batch Select is a nice way to experience those herbal notes of the F yeast strain when you can’t find a barrel pick that features them.
