On Tuesday, Business Insider India shared video showing two women who turned to shots of Jack Daniel’s, TikTok and each other for comfort during a turbulence-filled nightmare flight from Newark, New Jersey to Greenville, South Carolina.

Lila K. Smith met Sabrina — a woman whose last name remains unknown — in the back row of a United Airlines flight after the plane was hit with severe turbulence. Smith says it was the “worst” she’d ever been through.

Both Smith and Sabrina were nervous fliers and began talking to each other to ease their anxiety as the plane hit more than its fair share of bumps. To add a bit of levity to the moment, the duo filmed themselves taking shots of Jack Daniel’s while cracking jokes about planning their escape.

Sabrina confessed that she couldn’t swim, and if the plane were to crash into water she would float on somebody’s back. Both women quipped that they would pretend to be pregnant so they could get off the plane first in case it were to crash.

Sabrina made jokes about setting up a GoFundMe for her funeral in case the plane were to crash. Since both women felt like they were experiencing their last moments, they confessed their secrets:

“You wanna know something?” Smith said to her new friend. “I crop dusted in first class when I walked past them.”

The flight attendants placated both women, and eventually the plane landed. Though Smith never exchanged contact information with Sabrina, she is certain the two formed a bond over the harrowing experience they’ll never forget.

Smith turned the videos into a TikTok, which has since received more than 1.6 million views.

“Sabrina and I were like, If we’re going down in this flight, we’re going down together.” Smith explained according to Business Insider India, “Now, I hope she’s having fun with her family — although maybe we will see each other in the back row on the way home!”

Crop dusting and turbulence aside, Sabrina and Lila K. Smith’s airline story ranges among the more wholesome accounts involving imbibing on planes.

In July, Delta faced a $2 million lawsuit over “gross negligence” after a drunk man allegedly verbally harassed and sexually assaulted a mother and teenage daughter during a nine hour flight. The flight attendants were accused of serving him 10 vodka drinks and a glass of wine, while refusing to relocate the two women.

That same month, two men were kicked off a plane for allegedly joking about bombs. When reporters asked one of them why he would do such a thing, he claimed it was the result of overindulging:

“I drunk a bottle of Jameson Irish Whiskey, that would do it.”
