Jackson Purchase Kentucky Straight Bourbon Select Batch Full Proof is a bourbon made at the Jackson Purchase Distillery in Hickman, Kentucky. It uses a mash bill of 70% corn, 20% rye and 10% malted barley, and was aged four years in new white oak barrels with a #4 char. It was entered at 120 proof, bottled at 117.8 proof (58.9% ABV) and sells for $59 to $75.
The palate opens with toasted rye bread spread thickly with black cherry preserves. Soon after, ripe cantaloupe makes a brief appearance before slipping away, a note that can be easy to miss on first tasting.
The flavors are overall bright with cinnamon pops, herbal notes (Riccola Cough Drops, anise and squash blossoms) with some youthful notes like sourdough bread and a bit of astringent oak.
