Starward Two-Fold is an Australian double grain whisky made by Starward in Melbourne. It uses a mash bill of 60% wheat and 40% malted barley, with each grain distilled and matured separately in Australian red wine barrels before blending. It's bottled at 40% ABV and sells for around $35.
Toasted hazelnut and dark berry aromas gather around a predominant and delightful creme brûlée center. The palate shows a little more of the grains with a round and creamy spirit featuring loads of buttered toast flavors.
While Two-Fold is a whisky that grew on me considerably over several hours of tasting, I never found it quite elevated beyond everyday sipping (or mixing) status.
