Ballantine's Single Grain Scotch Whisky Single Distillery Edition is Scotland's first single grain expression from the Ballantine's brand, produced by Chivas Brothers using wheat grain whiskies from Strathclyde Distillery in Glasgow. It is finished in a combination of rum casks and extra-charred American oak barrels, delivering notes of white peach, charred pineapple, red apples, lemon zest and toasted almonds, per the producer. It is bottled at 40% ABV and retails for around $55.
Sweet on the palate with a buttery texture, this has flavors of banana, generous vanilla, brioche, egg custard tarts, white chocolate, red apple peels, and subtle lemongrass, adding sweet pineapple cubes and ground almond on the finish.
