The Daily Mail reported on Friday that Meghan Markle plans to launch the first product from her new lifestyle brand, American Riviera Orchard, and it should bring in plenty of cash. The outlet reported that the Duchess of Sussex intends to launch a rosé wine.

The former “Suits” actress-turned-royal will be launching the rosé in addition to jam and dog biscuits. Rather unsurprisingly, the British outlet threw some serious shade at Markle for teasing the rosé’s launch on social media at the same time Princess Kate made her first appearance after her publicized cancer battle.

The saltily-penned piece continued to mock Markle’s lifestyle brand and the fact she released two jars of jam grown in the gardens of her home in Montecito.

“Only two jars? Perhaps it wasn’t a great harvest,” The Daily Mail’s piece read.

Yet vitriol aside, even journalists at The Daily Mail reluctantly admitted that “the rewards could be huge” and claimed she was following in the footsteps of other celebrities with wine brands ranging from Francis Ford Coppola to Brad Pitt.

The New York Post reported that Markle sent jars of her jam to celebrities like Mindy Kaling and Kris Jenner from reports on social media.

Markle’s new vinous venture has personal reasons behind it as well. The outlet claimed that Meghan is very partial to the pink stuff, so partial, in fact that she drank rosé in 2016 on her first date with her husband, Prince Harry.

Markle has yet to confirm the launch.

Miraval: Meghan Markle’s Rosé Brand’s Potential Competition

If Markle is looking to have a successful rosé brand, major competition for her will be Miraval. Miraval launched in 2013, backed by Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie. The rosé brand in its signature round-shaped bottles skyrocketed in popularity. Revenue from the brand grew from $3 million in 2008 to $50 million in 2021.

Yet, since Pitt and Jolie’s divorce, Château Miraval has become the epicenter of a bitter battle between the former couple.

Jolie ended up selling her portion of Miraval to a Russian oligarch, which led to a lawsuit from Pitt. Pitt alleged that the sale was a breach of contract, and that Jolie had malicious intent.

In July, Jolie’s legal team took digs at her ex-husband, claiming that he was acting like a “petulant child.”

The couple divorced in 2016, and the “Once Upon A Time in Hollywood” star was under investigation after claims that he abused his children.

Hola! reported in March that the judge ruled in favor of Jolie.
