Glenglassaugh is expanding its permanent lineup with the addition of a new 15-year-old single malt, giving fans of the Highland distillery another age-stated expression to choose from.
Launching globally on Monday, Glenglassaugh 15 Years Old joins the brand’s core range alongside the flagship 12 Years Old. The new whisky carries a suggested retail price of $110 and will arrive in North America later this month.
Matured for 15 years in Pedro Ximénez sherry casks and Spanish wine casks, the whisky is bottled at 46% ABV. According to the distillery, the combination was selected to complement Glenglassaugh’s signature coastal character with richer notes of chocolate, coffee and dried fruit.
Rachel Barrie, master blender at Brown-Forman, which owns Glenglassaugh, said the expression was inspired by evenings spent overlooking nearby Sandend Bay on Scotland’s northeast coast.
“The 15 Years Old is a magnificent natural evolution, showing how our coastal location shapes the lush Glenglassaugh spirit over time,” Barrie said in a news release. “I’ve layered Pedro Ximénez sherry and Spanish wine casks to give breathtaking and indulgent depth of flavour.”
Official tasting notes describe aromas of chocolate sauce, salted caramel, orange, honey and dates. On the palate, the whisky delivers salted treacle, caramelized dates, orange papaya, chocolate and coffee, finishing with the distillery’s signature hint of coastal salinity.
Founded in 1875, Glenglassaugh spent more than two decades silent before production resumed in 2008. The distillery underwent a major brand refresh in 2023 with the introduction of its modern core range led by the 12 Years Old.
Brand Director Adip Agrawal described the new release as another step in the distillery’s revival.
“The fifteen-year-old brings complexity and richness with harmonious character, marking a significant milestone in the story of this reawakened coastal gem,” he said.
The launch follows a strong year for the Highland producer. Earlier this year, Glenglassaugh’s 12 Years Old, Sandend and Portsoy expressions each earned Double Gold medals and 97-point scores at the 2026 San Francisco World Spirits Competition.
