Penelope Bourbon announced on Wednesday that it has partnered with popular home furnishings brand Serena & Lily to release a limited-edition whiskey tied to Charleston, South Carolina.

The release, named Beaufain Four Grain Bourbon, is an 84-proof, four-grain bourbon produced in a run of 246 cases. The launch coincides with the opening of Serena & Lily’s Charleston, South Carolina design shop and will be sold online through SharedPour and at select liquor stores in Charleston and nearby markets, while supplies last.

The collaboration brings together Penelope Bourbon, founded in 2018, and Serena & Lily, a California-based home brand known for its coastal and Southern-inspired designs. Media outlet Garden & Gun “served as a connective thread” in connecting the two companies, according to a news release.

Beaufain was blended by Penelope co-founder and master blender Danny Polise. The bourbon’s stated tasting notes include caramel, vanilla, toasted grain and sweet corn, with vanilla, oak, and light baking spice on the finish.

“It’s a bourbon made with Charleston in mind. A blend that makes you want to slow down and enjoy each sip,” Polise said in the news release

Penelope co-founder and Vice President of Strategy Michael Paladini said the brand approached the blend with the same care Serena & Lily applies to its designs.

“Much like Serena & Lily brings the Beaufain design to life through pattern and texture, we approached this blend by thoughtfully curating flavors with the same intention the brand brings to its designs,” Paladini said.

The bottle design draws from a floral wallpaper pattern found in an 1838 Charleston home on Beaufain Street. The pattern was adapted for the label to reference the city’s architectural history.

“The Beaufain pattern captures the gracious spirit of Charleston — the blend of heritage, artistry, and warmth that defines Southern hospitality,” said Carla Rummo, chief marketing and ecommerce officer at Serena & Lily. “Translating that design into a bourbon collaboration felt like a natural extension of our world, where every detail, from pattern to pour, reflects the joy of celebration and decoration.”

As part of the launch, Charleston-based mixologist Nic Wallace created a cocktail called the Lowcountry Lilt using Beaufain bourbon. The recipe combines the bourbon with white crème de cacao, a bitter aperitif, orgeat syrup, lemon juice, aromatic bitters and saline solution.
