Milwaukee Bucks and Jack Daniel’s Reteam for Single Barrel Whiskey Handpicked by Brandon Jennings

Nearly a decade after parting ways with the Milwaukee Bucks, former point guard Brandon Jennings is lending his talent for tastemaking to the team’s latest single-barrel whiskey, set to debut later this year.
On Monday, On Milwaukee writer Bobby Tanzilo attended an unveiling for the second collaboration between the Bucks and Jack Daniel’s Tennessee Whiskey. Jennings, who helped curate the previous collaboration back in November, was in attendance alongside Barrel Maturation Manager and Master Taster Byron Copeland. Following a back-and-forth with the crowd, the duo announced that the next whiskey release co-signed by the Bucks would tentatively be called The Culture — one of the suggestions shouted out by an attendee.
Neither the price nor an exact release date was disclosed. However, Copeland did drop a few hints about what fans should expect. Jennings reportedly chose a single barrel from the Jack Daniel’s rickhouse that will be used as the template for five other barrel selections closely mimicking the original’s flavor profile. The release will ultimately yield six slightly different batches varying in age statement, alcohol content and palate — a pointed nod to the rallying cry “Bucks in Six,” popularized in 2012 by none other than Jennings himself.
It’s a consistent throughline for the collaboration. Jennings’ and Jack Daniel’s previous team-up was simply dubbed The Six, and cost around $52 per retailers still listing the bottle.
“I had a great time, man. Just the process, being able to pick a barrel for the city of Milwaukee,” Jennings told On Milwaukee. “Last year we did the Six, which was smoother. This year we picked a barrel that was a little more spicy, right? We couldn’t go smooth twice. I think the barrel that we picked, everybody’s going to love.”

Though Jack Daniel’s may be best known for its budget-friendly Old No. 7, the brand has slowly but surely established itself within a very different category over the past few years. The historic Tennessee whiskey maker has been releasing single-barrel picks at a breakneck pace, many of which have pushed alcohol content and resale value to ungodly heights. No release exemplifies this shift better than Coy Hill, the 2024 release for which maxed out at 137.5 proof. It was one of the best offerings we’d ever tasted from the brand, chock full of decadent butterscotch, charred oak, tobacco, banana and honey roasted nuts. Find our full review here.
Alas, prices for that bottling have now climbed into the $500–$600 range among most retailers. Though it’s unlikely that the new Jennings and Jack Daniel’s collaboration will reach that height, no doubt that fans will snatch up the single barrel fast. The whiskey will reportedly be released alongside the upcoming Bucks season, with 80% of bottles reserved exclusively for the Milwaukee market.
