Jack Daniel’s Latest Single Barrel Whiskey Is Available Exclusively at US Military Outlets
On Monday, Jack Daniel’s unveiled its 2025 Heroes Selection Barrel Proof Single Barrel whiskey, the latest in an ongoing series picked by and for veterans. Like past editions, the whiskey will be released exclusively in military retail locations, where bottles can be found adorned with collectible medallions and exclusive gift boxes.
The year’s expression was chosen by twin brothers JB and LB McGowan, who, according to The Moore County News, were born in Hamilton County, Tennessee, before moving to Lynchburg at just two months old. The brothers were drafted into the U.S. Army in 1958, shipping out to Hanau, Germany, for the entirety of their enlistment. After returning to the United States, they eventually found jobs at the Jack Daniel’s distillery, where they continued to work until 1999.
The duo’s single-barrel whiskey will be offered at proof points between 125 and 140 proof. Aged in the “highest reaches” of the brand’s Lynchburg barrelhouse, the whiskey is said to boast inviting aromas of sweet brown sugar, followed by a palate brimming with warm baking spice, toasted oak and a hint of smoke. On the finish, touches of vanilla, tobacco and spice.
“At Jack Daniel’s, every barrel tells a story, and the Heroes Selection is our way of honoring the courage, dedication and service of the military community,” Jack Daniel’s Master Distiller Chris Fletcher remarked in a news release. “It’s a privilege to craft a whiskey that reflects the strength and character of those who inspire it, and even more meaningful when it’s selected by veterans who’ve been part of our distillery family for decades.”
Jack Daniel’s Heroes Selection Single Barrel Barrel Proof Tennessee Whiskey is now available at a suggested retail price of $69.99.
As is to be expected from any duty-free release, however, that price is likely to surge once it hits the secondary market. Last year’s Heroes Selection Single Barrel, chosen by U.S. Navy Veteran and Jack Daniel’s SVP General Manager Melvin Keebler, has nearly doubled in price since finding its way into the hands of non-military liquor stores.
