  • Nose:

Sweet honey, toffee, brioche and rising bread, caramel apple and pepper dance on the nose.

  • Taste:

Viscous and pleasantly syrupy on the palate — natural but thick, layered, opulent. Sweet buttercream, brioche, butterscotch, a bit of pipe tobacco, caramel apple, honeycomb and pepper. Lovely and sweet, trading blows with heavy oak and decadent spice to balance.

  • Finish:

Long finish. There’s a touch of heat here, but overall it’s quite pleasant through and through on the finish.

  • Overall:

This release is stunning and brings a richness I felt was missing in last year's. It’s a touch sweet but rewards drinkers with better balance in the form of decadent cognac spice and oak character.

  • Score:

    88
