  • Woodinville 100% Rye Aged 8 Years is a bold, intensely flavorful rye that offers a complex and robust sipping experience, albeit one that comes with significant oak and dryness.

  • A stunningly delicious rye whiskey that has me thinking "Rye of the Year" conversations until the finish, which leans far too tannic.

  • Nose:

One of the best noses I've come across all year, truly. It's creamy, bright and fruity — a contrast with this whiskey's incredibly deep color. Big time raspberries, blueberries, cream and clove.

  • Taste:

Oak and tannin are the first notes to hit, followed soon by clove, raspberry, cherry candies, crème brûlée, sassafras and browned butter.

  • Finish:

The finish leads with toasted oak and buttercream frosting, then transitions into raspberries, sweet cream, cinnamon, clove and nutmeg. Maintains an oaky backbone all the while. A knock on an otherwise delicious whiskey: It's too heavy on the tannin. Bitter tannic notes stick around with you for a long while after your sip is finished.

  • Overall:

A stunningly delicious rye whiskey that has me thinking "Rye of the Year" conversations until the finish, which leans too tannic. Still absolutely worth tasting — delicious profile.
