  • The oak is a tad more dominant than I would prefer, but The Whistler P.X. I Love You delivers for those who enjoy a bold, sweet single malt

  • It's a pleasant sipper that could pair nicely with some desserts, maybe a fun experiment as part of a date night.

  • Each robust sip opens with maple, toffee and toasted grains, trailing off into salted caramel, cocoa and raisin, brightened by grapefruit. Consider as a dessert pairing.

  • It slips into cloying territory at times, but darker and spicier notes help rein it in.

  • Nose:

On the nose, P.X. I Love You is tart, fruit-forward and well balanced. Prunes, raisins and orange pith layer over leather, coffee grounds and dark chocolate-covered macadamia nuts.

  • Taste:

Moderate viscosity. The palate combines decadent sweet notes (honey, maple syrup) with a fruit-forward profile of pear and raspberry, plus rose petals, walnuts, chestnuts, cinnamon and graham cracker.

  • Finish:

The finish leads with white pepper and cinnamon, which fades into chestnut, caramel and sassafras.

  • Overall:

A very nicely balanced, extremely sippable, sweet whiskey. The honeyed notes of the distillate meld well with the nutty and dried fruit notes from the sherry finish. It slips into cloying territory at times, but darker and spicier notes help rein it in.

  • Score:

    88
