Produced at a dedicated distillery in the highlands of Jalisco, Suerte Reposado is made using 100% blue weber agave, slow-roasted for 52 hours and tahona-crushed for 17 hours. The spirit is double-distilled in stainless and copper and then aged for seven months in charred white American oak whiskey barrels. Though there are some conflicting reports online, those barrels do appear to be single-use ex-Jack Daniel's.

Loaded with Werther's hard candies and nougat on the nose. It's all very caramel and vanilla, with a crack of black pepper tossed in for good measure. Tasting this back to back with Suerte Blanco, I'm surprised there aren't as many agave/vegetal notes.
Packs in all the classic light-and-sweet reposado flavors. Cooked agave, cinnamon, crème brûlée and cloves. On second thought, let's double down on crème brûlée; that's pretty much exactly the balance of caramelized sugar and custard creaminess found all over the palate.
Buttery, peppery and all too brief. A hint of milk chocolate lurks around in the background.
Really solid, and frankly an insane bargain considering it clocks in at little over $40. Though I think the brand's blanco has a bit more distinctive character, I can't imagine anyone being disappointed by this. Those Jack Daniel's barrels were put to good use.
