Released in March 2024, this rye whiskey is produced by Sagamore Spirit in Maryland. In an attempt to make this rye taste like the classic Manhattan cocktail, Sagamore took 4-year-old rye whiskey and finished it in vermouth, bitters and cherry brandy barrels for at least 20 months. The final product is bottled at 103 proof and debuted with a suggested retail price of $79.99.

Sweet and spicy. Pleasant anise, clove and nutmeg pair with a sweet, confectionary note, reminiscent of a flaky pastry covered in powdered sugar. There’s big cherry note here as well; the brandy has a big influence.
Big hit of vermouth on the palate, along with cinnamon, clove, pine and some faint, floral lavender. This is a very spice-forward rye on the palate.
Spicy finish with lots of cinnamon, nutmeg and anise.
Really great sweet and spicy rye.
