  • Though it represents a small portion of the blend, the single malt distinctly shapes the flavor profile.

  • Penelope Cigar Sessions: Chapter 01 is an innovative blend of bourbon, American single malt, and American light whiskey, intended to pair with cigars; however, it ultimately falls short due to a lighter palate and finish than expected.

  • Nose:

Delicate and sweet on the nose with a ton going on: banana bread, sweet cream, strawberry candies, salted caramel, cherry cola, orange peel, butterscotch and a yeasty, malty note chipped in by the ASM.

  • Taste:

Quite viscous on the palate with a bit of heat. Orange peel, banana bread again, plus bright cherry, taffy, raisin bread, brioche, tobacco and cinnamon.

  • Finish:

Tobacco leads a medium to long finish, followed by rich cookie butter, banana nut bread and vanilla.

  • Overall:

A very tasty and distinctive whiskey. I could very well see this pairing beautifully with a cigar, so mission accomplished. Plus, it's just damn delicious. Kudos to Penelope on a masterful blend.
