  • A solid rye. I wish it was proofed higher, but it's fairly flavorful.

  • Sweetness continues on the palate mostly covering the usual spice driven rye notes. This perhaps could be helped by drinking this whisky with club soda.

  • This 12-year-old small-batch whisky is full bodied and supple, with bold vanilla and caramel flavors and a spicy finish.

  • Nose:

Quite fruity on the nose: pear and kiwi dance around cinnamon and pepper.

  • Taste:

Thin to moderate mouthfeel. Gentle oak and a touch of smoke are joined by vanilla, candied orange and sassafras.

  • Finish:

Oak leads the finish, followed by a pop of cinnamon, pepper and butterscotch.

  • Overall:

A solid rye. I wish it was proofed higher, but it's fairly flavorful.

  • Score:

    84
