This rye whiskey comes to us from the Kentucky distillery, Peerless. For this release, Peerless went the double-oaked route, which means they aged the whiskey in one oak barrel and then moved it into a second to give it a second, fresh dose of oak.

  • Nose:

    Heavy toffee, fudge, cocoa, espresso, cherry cordials and brown butter. Super rich and savory, enticing.

  • Taste:

    Moderate mouthfeel, heavy oak and toffee, pepper, tobacco, coffee and espresso. Dash of luxardo.

  • Finish:

    Long finish. Pleasant oakiness, loaded with dry cocoa, espresso and honey.

  • Overall:

    This may be the best Peerless showing to date. The combination of rye spice, espresso and cocoa is savory and wonderful.
