Released in March 2026, Old Forester High Angels’ Share Rye is the latest in the brand’s 117 Series. The limited small-batch Kentucky straight rye highlights barrels with unusually high evaporation, known as the “angels’ share,” resulting in a more concentrated flavor profile.

Drawn from select casks shaped by heat-cycled warehouse conditions, it is bottled at 110 proof (55% ABV) in 375 mL bottles and retails for about $64.99.

  • A flavor bomb of a rye that balances big spice, oak, sweet dessert-forward flavors and light herbaceous and citrus notes. Great stuff out of Old Forester.

  • Nose:

Decadent, brash and spice-forward nose with rich sweetness balancing out the baking spices. Loads of sassafras and clove are joined by cherry, brown sugar, butterscotch and gingerbread.

  • Taste:

Moderate viscosity. The palate is concentrated, woody and spice-heavy. Dry oak and tannin evolve into big clove, gingerbread, cinnamon and cherry, plus a nice layer of caramel.

  • Finish:

Clove continues onto the medium finish, joined by candied orange and lemon peel, anise, pine, eucalyptus and a kiss of dill.

  • Overall:

A flavor bomb of a rye that balances big spice, oak, sweet dessert-forward flavors and light herbaceous and citrus notes. Great stuff out of Old Forester.
