  • Nose:

The nose is beautiful and classic Michter's, loaded with decadent dessert notes: Eggy custard, toasted oak, coconut shavings, brown sugar, caramel and candied orange. Plenty of rye spice kicks around here, as well; there's a big clove note, plus cinnamon and ginger.

  • Taste:

Oak, brown sugar and toasted marshmallow meet a rye-spice profile that leans more herbaceous than past releases: fresh mint, dill, eucalyptus, anise, cinnamon, ginger.

  • Finish:

The finish is rich, long and layered, with plenty of oak plus clove, toasted marshmallow, cinnamon, peppercorns, cherry and custard.

  • Overall:

More herbaceous than recent batches have been, Michter's 10 Year Old Single Barrel Rye delivers all of its usual rich, dessert-forward flavors, which work beautifully in concert with spicy rye notes and oak.

  • Score:

    91
