This is the 2025 release of Maker's Mark Cellar Aged, a bourbon released annually since 2023. This bottling is an effort from Maker's Mark to give those who have spent years asking for older Maker's exactly what they want — aged in Maker's Mark's limestone "Cellar," which the distillery believes has an environment that lends to producing whiskey that doesn't wind up tasting over-oaked despite extended aging.

Distilled from the usual Maker's mashbill of 70% corn, 16% wheat and 14% malted barley, this year's Cellar Aged is made up of 74% 11-year-old bourbon, 16% 14-year-old bourbon and 10% 13-year-old bourbon. The 14-year component is the oldest known whiskey ever introduced into a Maker's Mark blend. This year’s release is bottled at 112.9 proof. It has a suggested retail price of $175.

  • It's not the most complex bourbon out there, but it's super drinkable and extremely tasty.

  • It’s the brand’s most expensive and most premium bottling for a reason: this is adroitly aged bourbon, showcasing the potential of Maker’s wheated mash bill and leaving few flavor quadrants unexplored

  • Nose:

Rich, lovely nose. with big-time custard, caramel cake and orange peel

  • Taste:

Beautiful bourbon with a great mouthfeel. Flavor-wise, it's sweet and utterly delicious. Cocoa, oak, caramel, Demerara, chopped peanuts. Some baking spice joins the sweetness, as well: gingerbread, anise, sassafras.

  • Finish:

Spice continues onto the finish, with cinnamon and clove giving way to a darker profile of coffee grounds, fudge and a bit of tannin.

  • Overall:

This is a superb whiskey. It's darker and spicier than your typical Maker's, with the age showing nicely. It's not the most complex bourbon out there, but it's super drinkable and extremely tasty.

  • Score:

    94
