Apple brandy dominates the nose with a big caramel apple note, which is joined by rich custard, toffee and a nice serving of rye spice: cinnamon, nutmeg and pepper, with a bit of tobacco.
Mouth-coating viscosity here with some manageable heat. Apple comes through massively on the palate. Granny Smith apple, toffee, custard, almonds, dark chocolate, espresso, cinnamon, tobacco, oak and tannin.
Long and rich, the finish opens with a sweet, delicious caramel apple note, followed by pear, dark chocolate-covered cherry, cacao nibs, a touch of anise, espresso and a bit of smoke, plus cinnamon, clove, marzipan and tannin.
This is a dynamite whiskey. It's rich, flavorful, sweet and delicious. It's not the most complex expression in the world, but it's nuanced enough. The apple notes are big, bright and delectable, and they're balanced nicely by rye spice.
