Lost Lantern American Vatted Malt Remix is an independent bottling that blends American single malt whiskey from 11 distilleries across the United States, including McCarthy’s in Oregon, Westland in Washington, Whiskey Del Bac in Arizona, Cedar Ridge in Iowa and Andalusia in Texas. The whiskey is non-chill-filtered with no added color and represents a variation on Lost Lantern’s original American Vatted Malt release.
Simply put, I’m a fan. Great profile which is very reminiscent of a highland Scotch. Great balance, approachable, and not so meaty you don’t know how to process the flavors. Still a bit young with some edges which take away from the depth of flavor but nothing on balance that is too distracting. This was almost like a nice custard, creamy with a good amount of sugar.
Combining a whopping 11 distilleries into a single blend, Lost Lantern American Vatted Malt Remix is an American single malt through and through, trading wild flavors for overall balance.
