Debuted in November 2025, Loca Loka Añejo is the latest from Tollywood actor Rana Daggubati and musician Anirudh Ravichander, who imagined a spirit that blended Indian and Mexican sensibilities. The tequila is distilled from highland agaves cooked in a low-pressure autoclave before aging one year in a mix of French and American oak barrels. The expression is bottled at 40% ABV and is purportedly additive free, according to the brand.

The aroma leads with a big hit of red fruit. Candy apple, cherry, pancake syrup and vanilla bean combine for plenty of sweetness, balanced out by roasted agave, charred wood chips and some understated baking spice.
Sinks into the palate with a darkly sweet mouthfeel that reminds me of Maraschino cherry syrup. Flavors of blackberry, prunes, currants, molasses and walnut. Quite unique for an añejo, perhaps owing to the use of those French oak casks.
A slightly bitter, tannic bite settles in for the long haul, loaded with hints of grape, prunes and dried leather.
Surprisingly rich stuff for an añejo that was aged only one year. Though it's considerably less agave-forward than Loca Loka's other offerings, it should feel right at home for Cognac and red wine lovers.
