Levant Heights is a Lebanese craft whisky produced at Riachi Winery & Distillery in Mount Lebanon, a family-owned distillery established in 1839. The Malt & Wheat expression uses a mash bill of 60% malted barley and 40% Lebanese durum wheat, triple distilled in copper pot stills and aged for three years in white oak. Bottled at 46% ABV, it typically retails for around $30 to $50, depending on the retailer.
So much yellow cake, batter and baked with the edges just catching. Semisweet cocoa frosting and pure candy disc sprinkles. Single pot still spice builds on the tip of my tongue, creamy with some warming but youthful proof on the back half of my tongue.
A moreish array of flavors with banana, baked cookies, caramel, cinnamon, nutmeg, wood spices, and vanilla pod, growing in spicy complexity and intensity, melting away to leave Lotus Biscoff, oak, tobacco, caramelized sugars, and squashed ripe banana, with toasted spices and banana bread to finish.
