  • This is quintessential sherried Ledaig. It’s heavy, it’s darkly fruity and smoky and pepper spicy.

  • The smoke fades away almost completely, finding an echo only on the modest yet engaging finish. A lovely specimen.

  • SCN has picked a great one with this cask. Good, wine forward Ledaigs are much harder to find these days, but this one sticks all the things I love about the profile.

  • Nose:

Sweet syrupy fruits, caramel, honey. Ashy, minerality, pungent peat. Seriously earthy.

  • Taste:

Thick, syrupy and rich mouth feel. Mild heat. Lots of syrupy fruits - currant, toffee, figs, blackberry, stewed fruits. Then storms in the ashy, mineral forward peat. Lightly pungent, but more mineral and wood forward peat and smoke. Powerful and complex.

  • Finish:

Long, powerful and pungent. Berries, stewed fruits, toffee and ash. Lots going on, with great balance.

  • Overall:

SCN has picked a great one with this cask. Good, wine forward Ledaigs are much harder to find these days, but this one sticks all the things I love about the profile.
