Jura Superstition Lightly Peated is an Island single malt Scotch whisky produced at the Isle of Jura Distillery on the Isle of Jura, Scotland, and owned and bottled by Whyte & Mackay. This no-age-statement expression combines two Jura malts, one heavily peated and one unpeated, both aged in ex-bourbon casks, with the peated malt comprising approximately 13% of the blend. Bottled at 43% ABV, it retailed for around $45 to $60 before being discontinued in early 2018.

  • Hits the tongue with a smooth and sweet (if not viscous) drop of honey. After a couple moments, that begins to turn smoky and spicy. The smoke again is peaty but subtler than in the nose. While spicy notes of cloves, pepper and cinnamon take more dominance yet are still held in the check by the honeyed flavor base, with a touch of the citrus and wood notes.

  • On the palate, it dries out to a spicy, citrusy finish reminiscent of tea and cigar box. Soft in feel.
